Dedicated IP / IP address

By default, all accounts have only one shared IP address and no dedicated IP address. You can find your site’s current IP in the left hand menu of the main page of cPanel.

Because of a shortage of IP addresses, you can now only purchase a dedicated IP if you are also purchasing an SSL certificate. These are both required for any site that will be accepting credit card or other sensitive information.

A new dedicated IP requires approximately 4 hours to resolve. Your site may appear to be down during that time. You will NOT need to change your name servers for a dedicated IP.

Hosting plans have only one cPanel. So you can have only one dedicated IP per hosting package. If you choose to purchase a dedicated IP, all of your addon and subdomains will also automatically use this dedicated IP. Emails will still use the shared IP.
